AsBuilt was contracted to capture wastewater treatment piping and equipment at a power plant using 3D scanning. The client wanted to document the existing wastewater system layout and convert the facility into 3D model space and develop ISOs. The 3D model was used for the integration of new equipment, workspace management, and employee training.
AsBuilt spent approximately 6 hours onsite to capture the project areas. The data was processed, converted to a 3D model, drawings and shared with the client.
Information Sharing – This process proved to be the best method to share information between multiple groups involved in the project. From project scoping to installation, all groups were able to share information seamlessly on their screens without leaving their desk.
Tracking of Design Changes – All design changes were easily tracked and communicated to the involved groups in one location.
Reduced Rework – There is nothing worse than doing something over and over. All fabrication was completed and checked prior to arrival at the site, which eliminated the need for rework.
Management of Change – Once the equipment was installed correctly and accepted by the facility owner, the model was updated to reflect the changes.
